OK Google…Tell Me Everything I Need to Know

I’m a longtime Android user and I find myself more and more speaking commands to my phone rather than laboriously typing in messages and searches. Like Siri for iPhones and iPads, Android users can benefit from a growing set of “OK Google” commands. I regularly ask Google for answers to questions like, “who are the 9 supreme court justices?” or “fast food restaurants in the area?” I also use it as a timesaver to dictate email and text messages (say “send an email to wife Are You at Costco?” or “Text Lisa Geherin please bring the extra course materials”). My favorite may be dictating “notes to self.” If I’m driving home from work and remember something I need to do, I just say, “OK Google…note to self write tech blog. The notes are added automatically to my favorite note taking tool, Google Keep (keep.google.com). I stay organized and on top of all my to-dos! You can also say “OK Google” to dictate social media posts, set reminders that are time- or location-based, start the built-in navigation as you drive or walk, and tell your device to play a specific song or album. There are hundreds of ways to interact with your phone with just your voice. Want to see them all? A complete list can be found at http://ok-google.io.
