Spotlight on ICLE Legal Updates

By Rebekah Page-Gourley posted 28 days ago

ICLE’s Legal Updates are a great way to stay up-to-date on recent developments that matter to your practice. The collection includes short analysis of a variety of timely topics ranging from highlights of recent regulatory and statutory changes to developments in artificial intelligence.

In the past year, we’ve introduced several new series of Legal Updates that we feel are particularly helpful for ICLE Partners:

Monthly Caselaw Updates: This series provides summaries of each month’s Michigan Supreme Court and Michigan Court of Appeals published opinions, arranged by practice area, with links to the full opinions. While case summaries appear in our Weekly Law and Practice newsletter for ICLE Partners and are searchable on the website, we think this monthly series is very helpful for keeping the latest caselaw developments at your fingertips. Check out the May 2025 update here.

Criminal Law Case Summaries: Because of the volume of criminal law opinions coming out of the Michigan Supreme Court and Michigan Court of Appeals, we have also started posting a series that provides deeper analysis of the criminal law opinions issued each month. Here is my colleague Matt Franson’s update from April 2025.

Quarterly Practice Area Updates: Finally, we are providing quarterly updates in many of ICLE’s core practice areas, compiling that quarter’s case summaries, public acts, and, in the case of the civil litigation update, recently promulgated or amended Michigan Court Rules. The quarterly updates are posted on a rolling basis for each practice area. Here are the latest updates for your reference:

·         Michigan Business Law Quarterly Update: Feb 2025 - May 2025

·         Michigan Family Law Quarterly Update: Mar 2025 – May 2025

·         Michigan Civil Litigation Quarterly Update: Dec 2024–Feb 2025

·         Michigan Real Property Quarterly Update: Mar 2025-May 2025

·         Municipal and Negligence Quarterly Update: Jan 2025–Mar 2025

·         Michigan Labor and Employment Law Quarterly Update, Executive Orders

·         Probate and Estate Planning Quarterly Update: Jan 2025–Mar 2025

We hope you find these new series helpful as you practice, and we are always open to hearing your feedback!
